Expert system is an important application of artificial intelligence, and is mainly used to solve problems where mathematical methods cannot be available, and inference is the only feasible approach. The experience of experts is needed to evaluate the safety of hydraulic metal structures. Combining the successful applications in AI, in this paper, we study and design a system for evaluating the safety of hydraulic metal structures, whose goal is to compute the reliability of hydraulic metal structures. More precisely, we make the following contributions.1. By analyzing the accidents, we propose a multi-levels, multi-goals architecture for evaluating the safety of hydraulic metal structures.Applying the techniques of AI, we design and make up a framework for evaluating the safety of hydraulic metal structures.2. In terms of the production systems, we represent the domain knowledge by ranking rules, constraint rules and suggestion rules. Method base is another important component of our system. Besides outlining the main issues in designing such component. Further, we discuss the module of inference. Based on the theory of relational database, we design and present the conceptual and logical views of the database of our system. Additionally, we design and present the methodbase of our system.3. Finally, on a higher level, we describe the system's architecture and main functions. A practical example is given to illustrate the process of using our system.Safety evaluation systems of hydraulic metal structures is based on artificial intelligence and database,is based on the techniques of computer and software engineering and safety monitoring and evaluation of hydraulic metal structures.it has the features of practical and reliable and advanced and operate convenient and expand.
