With the background of persistent ascend in performance and descend in price of semiconductor products, it is one of the trends to develop marine navigation radar on embedded processor and digital signal processor. Compared with traditional radar systems, embedded radar system is smaller, more stable and easier in operations. This paper describes the design and implementation of a marine navigation radar system based on embedded processor and digital signal processor.Chapter one discusses the development trend of marine navigation radar, embedded system and DSP technology.Chapter two introduces the principle and structure of impulse radar, and the digital acquisition of the distance and the angle.Chapter three discusses the hardware architecture of MPC823e and TMS320C6211 DSP, the embedded operating system and software programming environment CCS.Chapter four presents the functional layout of the system and then provides the system's total architecture and the detailed architecture design of the lower unit.Chapter five discusses the software design and implementation of the DSP subsystem. The architecture and main flow charts are included.Chapter six discusses the optimization of the system. The system tests are followed.Chapter seven draws a conclusion of this paper and make a forward looking on the expansion of the system's performance and function.
