One of the developing trends about marine navigation radar is the adoption ofcomputers such as embedded system and FPGA. This thesis describes the design andimplementation of a digital marine radar system based on embedded ARM processorand FPGA data processor.This thesis focuses the research on the four difficult points of technical roadmap.The main contents are following:1.The principle of digital marine radar is introduced, including the characteristic ofelectromagnetic wave, the principle of impulse radar, the principle of distancemeasuring and the principle of orientation measuring.2.The hardware platform is introduced in detail. Embedded operating system andembedded GUI are discussed, Montavista Linux and MiniGUI are selected as theembedded operating system and embedded GUI respectively. In addition, system planof digital marine radar system is introduced in detail.3.The process of porting Linux kernel is introduced in detail, including the processof porting U-Boot and Linux kernel. The architecture of related drivers are introduced indetail.4.The design and implementation of display and control software would bediscussed in detail. The architecture is introduced in detail. The realization of the ARPAfunction simulation module, the principle of collision avoidance of ARPA is introducedin detail.5.The main function of display and control system of the marine radar would betest, including test the display function, control function and ARPA simulation moduleof marine radar system, and the test gets good result.In this thesis, the digital marine radar is implemented by using the scheme of the"dual-core" processor. The good result is get after test the display and control system.This system prepare a strong base for the expansion of the system’s performance andfunction.
