The invention of radar expands the human ability to observe environment and things around. Radar has been widely used in various occasions.As an application of radar in navigation, marine navigation radar has developed for decades and has been the essential navigation equipment on ship.With the rapid development of radar technology, radar has developed from analog to digital. Based on the digital processing technology, it makes the radar signal processing simpler, more flexible and more efficient and the detection performance of the target is greatly improved. In modern digital radar, digital signal processor has become a key part of the whole system, and its performance directly determines the level of radar technology.This paper designes and implements a marine navigation radar signal processor based on FPGA and DSP. Firstly, the structure and working principle of marine radar are studied, Then the scheme design of the digital signal processor is discussed and the hardware and software design of the system are given in detail. The hardware part mainly includes the AD sampling circuit, FPGA circuit, DSP circuit, external memory circuit, ethernet communication circuit, power and clock auxiliary circuit. The software part mainly includes the digital reception of radar IF signal, digital down conversion processing (DDC), co-channel interference suppression, echo pulse accumulation, Ethernet communication and data transmission between FPGA and DSP. This paper also presents software simulation about the algorithm discussed through MATLAB and Modelsim. Finally, the whole system is tested and analyzed.The results show that the hardware circuit of the system is working properly. The system can collect radar echo data effectively, process and transmit the data through the Ethernet. The system meets the design requirements, achieves the desired purposes and has a high practical value.
