With the development of the microelectronic technology and materials industry,image display technology develop quickly. Lots of new model Flat Panel Display(FPD) have appeared.The display quality of FPD is closed to traditional Cathode Ray Tube(CRT) display,and now some of them have better capability.At the same time,FPD also meets the expectations of small size and low power.Now,color Thin-Film Transistor Liquid-Crystal Display(TFT-LCD) is one of FPD that has the best prospect in application .Through studying and analyzing the principle and characteristics of the color TFT-LCD,put forward a method of driving color TFT-LCD and interfacing with Digital Signal Processor(DSP) by Complex Programable Logic Device(CPLD) and First In First Out(FIFO),realize color digital image display based on DSP.The method can display color image with lower cost and power via little resource of DSP.FIFO is a novel device with characteristics of low cost, large content, but its control is fairly complex. In this paper we designed the controlling circuit of FIFO and realized proper reading and writing. The whole system circuit is presented by fully considering the Electromagnetic Compatibility.Complete the software design of display corlor image via TFT-LCD by using TMS320C6711 DSP. Users can display static or dynamic color digital images on this platform. The above system was tested under various circumstances. The results of the experiments indicated that our system successfully fulfilled the performance requirement we expected.The study in this paper is one of the important parts of embedded digital image processing system.The system is capable of displaying static or dynamic color digital images. It has advantages of small size, low power consumption, low cost, high display quality, and expending little resource of CPU. It can be widely used in fields of monitor system, apparatus and consumer electronics.
