Virtual instruments (VI) is a new kind experiments instruments that developed with computer and test instruments, it could be used for different kinds measurements by one virtual instrument. So it is very suit to a factory research laboratory. A new kind abrasive water jet machine tools has been testing that needed measurements many characteristic factors including voltage, current, pressure and flux of the water, temperatures of water, abrasive fluid and the working area. Such characteristic ought to be tested at the same time and ought to be saved for study outline. Traditional instruments cannot carry out such task. It is the reason we built up a virtual instrument. The VI include a computer, a data acquisition card typed PCI-6024E, a data conditioning board, some sensors, and very important software "LabVIEW" The rate of data acquisition by PCI 6024E is 200 Ks/s and the resolution is 12bit, it suit to measurements of the conventional machine tools. The LabVIEW have been not only used as a data acquisition instrument, but also used as a data showing. Its applications designed to perform real experiments including data analysis. With LabVIEW, the signal of the voltage and the current could analysis with FFT.
