With the rapid development of micro-processor, the embedded system is being widely used. DSP embedded system is a kind of universal system that embeds DSP system into electronic application system, which has not only high-speed data processing capability, but also rich system resources. It improves the system performance and technical indexes, while with very low cost. This paper can be divided into three parts: First, embedded real-time operating system and Digital Signal Processing system are presented. Second, a universal embedded real-time platform that combines hardware and software is built. The last part is about its applications in instruments design. The contributions of this paper are:1. The real-time kernel μC/OS- II is ported to DSP successfully, thus a universal embedded real-time platform is built. It can be used in the secondary development of control instruments effectively after being optimized and perfected.2. The scheduling algorithms of the embedded RTOS are summarized, and that of μC/OS- II is analyzed deeply. In order to solve the priority inversion problem, priority ceiling protocol is implemented in μC/OS- II. Furthermore, three embedded real-time systems are compared in their different features and applications.3. Instanced by the Coriolis mass flow rate meter, it is explained that how to apply this platform to developing control instruments. A new method is proposed to calculate the mass flow rate. The system tasks are managed by real-time kernel, which improves the real-time performance and reliability.
