In order to develop condition monitoring and fault diagnosis system for machinery quickly and effectively, the paper applied the idea "flexibility" of configuration software to the configurable condition monitoring and fault diagnosis system for machinery. By analyzing commonness of condition monitoring and fault diagnosis system for machinery, and Basing on the characteristic of configuration software thoroughly, the scheme of the system was put forward. The design idea, software, critical technology and application were also discussed in this paper.The process of configuration is assembling the system function according to requisition of application into a system that can run. Configuration software includes real-time picture displaying, real-time curve displaying, parameter adjusting, alarming, controlling, communication, opening interface and I/O device supporting.The paper discussed the general construction of condition monitoring and fault diagnosis system for machinery and the technique of vibration signal analysis. Object-oriented and component programming technologies are the key technologies in configuration software, deep study on the basic concepts and principles of these technologies are carried in the paper. The paper brought forward five components: test, point component, picture component, function component, axis track component and rotate speed component. To manage the data, the system adopt relation database system, it ensure that the data was coherent and integral. During the processing data, the system introduced chains. So searching, modifying and delete component were convenience. The system was easy to extend and carry out the opening construction. The collecting module of the system was based on DLL, so system can run without A/D card. To communicate with other application, DDE, RS232, Window Sockets and OPC were applied, The principle and steps of communication was discussed in paper.The system explore a new way on condition monitoring and fault diagnosis system for machinery, and built up quite a lot experience for further development of similar system. The system was running and satisfied the desire of users and its advantage and credibility were verified.
