Frequent faults in tobacco logistics system affects the production. Fault diagnosis system was introduced to improve the efficiency of logistics and to solve the problem. SCADA system as a supplementary means of fault diagnosis was used to access the machine status information to participate in fault diagnosis and to provide visual monitoring interface, which consists of two parts: data collecting system and equipment condition monitoring system.In the process of fault diagnosis, data collection system collects information on critical equipment to provide data support for fault diagnosis. For further optimization of data collection methods, the device status were graded according to the degree of importance to reduce data volume, and this data collection method ensures the data acquisition in real time and maintains the stability of the system. Monitoring system consists of two parts,the remote terminal and the scene terminal, corresponding to the configuration software and industrial touch screen, respectively. In Touch configuration software running on a remote terminal was used to access internal information form Rockwell programmable controllers. Three-dimensional configuration was implemented with three-dimensional modeling software. Active X developed by VB was adopted to improve the controllability and operability, and In Touch also completes the dynamic effects according to the actual situation. Finally, the real-time operating environment of the configuration software helps to improve real-time fault diagnosis and accuracy, and it also combined with the initial alarm completed fault diagnosis and data exchange of fault diagnosis system. Industrial touch screen is used as the scene terminal with Win CE as the embedded real-time operating system. The database access application was developed based on the three-tier structure of ADO model to connect the remote fault diagnosis system. And the application was developed to acquire the system’s fault information to assist field personnel to locate faults as well as equipment maintenance. Then a touch screen configuration software development environment was employed to complete the development of touch-screen control system. Ultimately, the system has been applied in tobacco logistics system successfully.
