Streaming Media Tech. And It's Application On Network Courseware

Distance Education has become one of the education issues of education and computer science fields from the end of last century. Modern Distance Education implement computer, multimedia, network, communication technology into education, which lead to education reform of modern people's learning style. The unlimited geographical location and learning time brings the learners a lot of convenience, which, in the rapid pace modern society, offers people more chance to enjoy education. But modern distance education faces many challenges since traditional teachers can no longer teach students classes face to face, they must learn new education technology and adapt themselves to the new teaching environment. So it's difficult for teachers to get information about students' study performance by traditional way such as observation students' responses or expressions. Thus teachers must find out the students' performance information through the data sets in distance education system. But this often provide teachers with information from only one perspective, teachers still have to integrate information from different perspectives and relate the separate information, then they will have an idea about the teaching quality and students' performance.Streaming media time-base media transported like stream. Streaming media is a new technology of network multimedia. It combined the technology of data compress, and media stream scheduling strategy, and network data transport and control. It released the problem of network bandwidth. This paper analyzed the streaming media technology, and discussed the principles of streaming media.The author researched the criterions about streaming media in home and abroad, provided a new standard of streaming media network courseware resources. SMIL(Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language) conforms to XML syntax. So the paper descript the standard streaming media with SMIL. At the same time, the author created an tool of courseware switching which switch non-standard courseware to standard courseware.Based on analysis of the tool of courseware shifting, a new model of streaming media network courseware is introduced. This model combined the theory of constructivism, and used streaming media. At the end of the paper, the author realized the courseware-producing tool with Visual C++6.0.
