The Study Of Distributed PDM System Based On WEB Technology

Product Data Management (PDM)is a new management thought and technique based on the software technology. It manages all the product information, such as electronic documents, digital documents and database records as well as the product in processes, the workflow and change flow.This paper expatiates on the PDM definition and its scope; discusses its structure and main functions. This paper introduces the concept and architecture of PDM based on Web technology. The workflow of development and advantage of Web based PDM system are presented. Then the projects of PDM system are showed. Meanwhile, thesis focuses on PDM detailed functions like Product Construction and Configuration Management,Product Documents Management,Work Flows and Processes Management,Items Management, Engineering Change Management, System Integration, Users and Security Management.As the technology of Internet and Intranet has been used in PDM more and more, it becomes a tendency to develop the product data management with friendly user interface and flexible structure by ASP, which is based on World Wide Web and .NET. Combining the aspect of World Wide Web with product data management, the article discusses the framework and main functions of this kind of PDM systematically. Furthermore, its advantages and scarcities are listed. The application of the kind of PDM in practice by DOWN-UP makes it different from others, and the present research level and hotspot of product data management are reviewed. The scheme presented in this paper can preferably satisfy the performance requirement of the PDM system, which makes it independent of the computer platforms. The system can realize PDM under heterogeneous circumstances and integrate various CAD/CAM software platforms.From the principle and model proposed in this thesis, a separately concurrently designing and manufacturing system is created according to the process of concurrently product development of a manufacturer. It supports foundation, running and disassembly of virtual enterprise, and more, logic construction, database framework and some technology such as XML and ASP.NET that realized by program of the system is also designed.
