Folk psychology is relatively young in China. In order to give retrospection about psychological study on Chinese minorities, present study used bibliometrical method to analyze the literature from 1997 to 2002.The author searched the literature in this field on CNKI. As a result, 162 articles about Chinese minorities psychological study were searched. After researching the topic, literature type, method, subject, authors, cited literature and financial status, the researcher found,I Most of the articles are about describing psychological phenomenon and summarizing experience.II Quantitative methods, especially psychological tests are widely used.III In respect to minorities, more studies are about Tibetan, Hui people, Uigur, Chuang and Yi people, and most of the subjects are students.IV Cross-cultural study is popular, but the study level is relatively low.V Most researchers are teachers at college and university, and a few of them keep on studying in this field these years.VI The average count of cited literature is quite fewer than both international and domestic science and technological literature. Most of the cited literature is Chinese books and magazines.
