The Engineering Project MIS Based On WEBGIS

Geographical information system (GIS) is going deep into many fields, and the rapid application of computer network is accelerating the evolution of network GIS from tradition GIS. The combination of GIS with the network technology is an important direction of the present GIS research field, and the constructing of distributed GIS named as the WEBGIS, is the trend for the develpping of GIS.This thesis introduces the knowledge about WEBGIS at first, including spacial database, the base technology of WEBGIS, the J2EE technology. Then ESRI' s WEBGSI resolutions and it' s products are introduced. At last, the application of WEBGIS on engineering project is introduced.The emphases of this thesis are the server' s running mode and the client' s running mode of GIS in WEB environment. The server adopts the ESRI' S resolutions, including developer library, map release server and spacial databse engine to build three-layer mode. The client uses the scheme based on browser and Java applete together.The map display mode uses the scheme based on vector map and grid map. Thus the better combination of functions with load can be gained through respective strongpoints.This paper discusses the WEBGIS' s application in tradition information management to make WEBGIS suit to gengric engineering project management system which has better visual effect, more fuctions and cross-platform, etc.
