Using the Module Technology To Develop WEBGISMajor: Cotrol theory and engineeringGraudate: Zhang HongAdvisor: Gong XiaofengGeographical information system is penetrating into every kinds of fields, and the rapid application of computer network is accelerating the evolution of network GIS from traditional GIS. The combination of GIS with the network technology is an important developing direction of the present GIS research field, and the constructing of distributed GIS, the WEBGIS, is the trend for the developing of GIS.The key to solve the problem of distributed GIS is using the distributed object technology and the spatial database technology. Firstly, the distributed object technology, spatial database technology and the module technology are discussed profoundly, and the developing of GIS for recent years is also analyzed. Secondly, the trend and technology of GIS in the era of iNTERNET are discussed. Thirdly, by analyzing several methods of constructing the WEBGIS, We proposed the best method, that is to use the combination of WEB and JAVA to develop WEBGIS. After that, we go deeply into the MapX, and probe into the combination of MapX with the oracle spatial cartridge, which is the most popular spatial database. Finally, under the basis of the suggested method, we develop the software of urban GIS(UGIS) by using Visual Basic and MapX, and we apply it to the developing of information management system of Chengdu city. We produce vector map of Chengdu, and the GIS management system of Chengdu is developed by using GIS ActiveX technology. So, in virtue of this GIS management system, we can easily realize the management system of traffic, the public order , the population distribution ,and thé%ity installations such as the underground water supply or drain line .In the meantime,we realize vehicle control by using GIS and GPS...
