This dissertation mainly deals with the CLI (Common Layer Interface) modeling technology facing RE/RP (Reverse Engineering/ Rapid Prototyping) based on ICT(Industrial Computed Tomograghy) slice data, which integrate with a lot high-tech achievement such as ICT, reverse engineering and rapid prototyping. It is not only a core module in product rapid development and product imitating, but also an effective method for introducing domestic or overseas advanced technology. This dissertation studies and accomplishes the key technology of CLI modeling and rapid prototyping based on ICT slice data. ICT slice image processing, curve-fitting and contour points sampling, middle contour interpolation and data format exchange are mainly realized and accomplished, which can be concentrated in the following issues: (1) In ICT slice image processing, image smoothing, image two-valued processing, edge detection and contour tracing are studied and accomplished. Local-average filter, Gaussian filter and median filter are studied in image smoothing. The method of automatic selecting threshold presented by Ostu is used to accomplish image two-valued processing for artifacts reducing. Methods of edge detection such as Sobel operator, Robert operator, Kirsch operator, Laplacian operator, LOG operator and Canny operator are studied. A contour tracing method based on 8-neighbourhood and 5-neighbourhood is presented for using single pixel link to describe contours. The above is foundation of the whole dissertation, and is the key component in the whole system, whose results determine the following work. (2) The method of curve-fitting by B-spline is studied and accomplished. The method of bowstring approximating arc for contour points sampling is adopted. The related theory and method are studied too. (3) Because the distance between the two neighboring ICT slice can not satisfy the condition for rapid prototyping, middle contour interpolation between the two neighboring ICT slice is necessary. A method of linear interpolation based on minimum distance is adopted and finished for middle contour interpolation.(4) CLI format is applied to rapid prototyping on the basis of study and analysis of virtue and flaw of STL format. A method of distinguishing inner and outer contour based on radial is adopted for forming CLI format file. In the end, the satisfactory result is given according to the real product. The research in this dissertation is significant in both theory and real application. With the development of ICT technology, CLI modeling technology based on ICT slice data will be widely used, which will lead to huge economic profit. Its development will result in great improvement in future product manufacture.
