Production Planning and Scheduling is the pivotal factor that make the best of enterprise resource, improve yield and efficiency as much as possible and operate orderly for discrete manufacture and processing industry. Therefore, it becomes the important research field of academy and industry. Combination of the ideal of Holonic Manufacturing and production planning and Scheduling is the inevitable result taking into account dynamic changeful and unpredictable manufacture environment and deeply change of market, technology, society, economy, environment, organizing principle and culture.This paper analyses the research background and significance, andintroduces the concept of honolic manufacturing. And then it gives adetailed specification of the ideal of holonic manufacturing. Aftercompared holonic manufacturing architecture with traditionalhierachical control system, it presents the architecture of productionplanning and scheduling based the concept of holonic manufacturingwhich consists of basic holons(production holon, resource holon, orderholon )and assistant holon. Meanwhile, it provides the principle of thisarchitecture and each portion of it in detail technical, production andprocess information are exchanged among basic holons. To organizedifferent lever holons by using the "Aggregation" mechanismin the architecture and modeling for holon with similar function by"Generalization" mechanism. Assistant holons are used to introducecertain hierachical control which adapt to those transitions of completedistributed control architecture. Simultaneity, it is used to provide expertknowledge and determinate advice to those assistant holons and profits torealize integrated control.Production planning and production scheduling does not locate in the same layer in the system. This paper further discusses basic holons such as order holon, product holon, resourse holon which locate in production planning layer. Product holon possesses the knowledge of product and processing craftwork and transfers technics informations with resource holon. For resource holon, it possesses the knowledge of organization, employment and control of manufacturing resource and transfers production informations with product holon. For order holon, it possesses the knowledge of manufacturing orders and tasks and transfer data information each other. Each holon is indenpendent as well as transfers data information with each other. The paper explains the architecture of each holon, working principle in detail.However, control holon and scheduling holon locate in the layer of production scheduling. Control holon is mainly used to link, thransfer and prepair the data which is not visible in whole system and runs in the background. Moreover, the role of scheduling holon is just one of the primary purposes. That is to arrage products and items waiting for processing on the enterprise plants and machines to optimize time or efficiency. The paper discusses the traits of scheduling problem and realizition method based genetic arithmetic and introduce the programing method of genetic arithmetic. Meanwhile, it innovates the GA what efficiency is proved by simulating results.Lastly, this paper summarizes the structure and employment of production planning and scheduling system. Then it further provides the prospect of this field with the development of the reckoning technics, networking technics, optimal technics, mathematical theory and computer software and hardware.
