This paper is based on the research on and development of Radiology Information System(RIS), which is workflow-based, interner environment and following DICOM(Digtal Imaging and Communications in Medicine) standard. Firstly, the real workflow of a Radiology department in a hospital is studied. With the analysis and study of existing achievements, a three-layer Brower/Server system architecture is employed in RIS based on DotNet and DICOM. Secondly, three key techniques in RIS: Comunication mechanism in RIS, the MWL/MPPS service and one better model- Compatibility for non-DICOM modality are discussed. Thirdly, by analyzing medical information exchange standard, an integration model is presented for different hospital information systemes (HIS, PACS and RIS). Finally, all modules of RIS are demonstrated and evaluated with their applications in several hospitals.As following the international standards, the system is of good performances in applicability, expandability and can improve the level of radiology service remarkably.
