With China's entry into WTO, all industries of China, especially auto industry, will face chances and challenges which both come from international market. The Auto Industry's "10th Five-year Plan", which served as a part of "Outline of The Civil Economy And 10th Five-year Plan of People's Republic of China" points out: domestic auto industry must insist on the road of combination of opening up and self-development, and adjust industry structure, promote the competitively advantageous enterprises to develop fast, enhance the general quality of the industry, increase their international competitive edge, so as to make auto industry the backbone industry of the country's domestic economy in 2010.Changan Automobile Corporation Limited (in short: Changan auto), is the largest manufacturer of mini vehicle and engines in China and one of the five enterprises, which hold the production capacity of 150,000 mini vehicle each year and is strongly supported by the state. It eyes on the international advanced production management mode, absorbs the international advanced technology and management experience, quickens the decrease of gap between itself and the international large-scale auto group, participates the international market competition, and push the continuous development of the company. In the new environments of China's entry into WTO, on one hand, as all enterprises are facing different competitive environments and the competition becomes more severe, it objectively requires all enterprises to shorten market response time and make themselves to manufacture according to PO; on the other hand, along with the innovation of new technologies of Changan Auto and the speedup of new products development, the increase of production scale, the company has the internal demand to establish advanced computer system to enhance the production management level and the site cannibalization & control capabilities, to convert itself to coordinated production and provide flexible technological guarantee for the mixed vehicle production line in the aspects of materiel coordination & product line management, when it builds new product line or rebuilds old product line. This article focuses on the study of workshop level's management reform based on the factory level production management system, to accomplish the process standardization and automatization of workshop work planning management, workshop work management, vehicle VIN bar code tracking management, and workshop resources management and control, to finallyaccomplish the goal to use information technology to support production management modernization. We call the above-mentioned workshop level production management information system MES (Manufacture Executive System). So the theme of this article has both practical & theoretical values.The novelty of this article lies in the following: on the basis of the analysis of the current automobile industry situations & development, through the comparison of informatization construction gap between Changan Auto and other domestic & overseas automobile manufacturers, to study the building of automobile production MES and provide its own suggestions. It can be used for reference by other automobile manufacturers on how to build information system to enhance management level when building new product lines or rebuilding old product lines.
