Infrared ray (IR) technique is one to study the production, transportation, conversion and detection of infrared radiation. It is widely used in various areas of national economy, national defense, railway and scientific research. By using the IR technique, the IR detection system of axle temperature is the security and safeguard instrument to monitor and detect the axle temperature and to find the vehicle hot axle of the running train, prevent the axle from burning. The rules of axle temperature and the mode of infrared axle detection is the important hardware base of axle detection system.In this thesis, the main content of study includes the following three parts. The first part is the study of axle temperature rules. Firstly, the experience and the reason of vehicle hot axle engendering are analyzed. Secondly, by utilizing the thermodynamic theory of hot axle box, the heat balance of vehicle alxe temperature field is analyzed. Thirdly, the temperature rule in alxe box is studied through the two methods of linear regression and probability and fuzzy mathematics and the subject function of running heat, micro-heat, strong heat is built. The second introduces the determinant model to the hot axle of the HTK series infrared axle temperature detection system, In the third part, the four kinds of infrared axle temperature detection modes in our country are introduced. Through theory calculation, the technical requirement of the four modes is sumed up. By comparison among the four modes, the principle of the infrared axle temperature detection mode is found.In the conclusion, the thesis presents the suggestions to the future study of infrared axle detection. One is to study the axle temperature rule about a high speed running train, heat detection model and detection mode. Another is to apply the expert control, intelligent control theory to the axle temperature rule and heat detection model. This will be the basis of the new era infrared axle detection system. The third is to take the infrared axle detecting system as the principal part, take other fault diagnoses technique and inspecting means into account.
