Fieldbus is a kind of serial data communication link installed among major automatic equipments in industrial fields. It has many advantages such as being digital, intelligent and its low price. CAN is a sort of fieldbuses and it can effectively support distributed and real-time control systems. The CAN applications spread broadly in multi-link nets from high-speed nets to low-cost ones. Having been aware of the great advantages of CAN compared to traditional data communication means, more and more engineers begin to apply CAN in all kinds of industrial applications.Because CAN was originally designed for the data communication among too many control and test equipments in modern vehicle, CAN is connected closely with data communication among electrical equipments in modern automobile. Based on CAN data frame, SAEJ1939 is a kind of data communication protocol designed to transfer data among different parts in vehicle and support the applications of cars and cargoes.Though there are more and more CAN applications, the design of CAN products are still lack of standards, and the application breadth and depth still have a large distance with foreign design ability. However, the better standardization and performances of controllers and instruments based on CAN can't be achieved until the knowledge of CAN fieldbus can reach a higher lever. So in this paper, a simulation platform is set up to analyze the CAN protocol and design an application layer protocol based on SAEJ1939 with the knowledge of CAN.There are five chapters in this paper. The first one includes the conceptions, the development condition of CAN fieldbus protocol and SAEJ1939, and the problems which will be discussed in the later chapters. The second and third chapters include the design of the simulation platform, the major design methods of software and hardware of PC compatible card, and PC user software based on VC++. Based on the former two chapter, the fourth chapter includes the analysis of CAN protocol, the net connection method of CAN, and performance analysis methods. The fifth includes the introduction of SAEJ1939 and the application of hybrid power vehicles based on it.
