With the progressive development of the petrochemical industry, the requirement of the monitoring automatization in the oil tank field is higher and higher. These years, people begin to aware of the security in the oil tank field, the control automatization and modernization of management develop at a good pace. But the development can not still satisfy the requirement of the yielding safety and quality. After extensive research on recent situations about control system in native and abroad and real needs of the project, an IPC & PLC & Field-bus structure is adopted to solve the control problems, such as the complexity of the manufacturing flow, multiplicity of equipments, excessiveness and disperse of I/O and high demand of avoiding blast. In the locale, an oil tank local monitoring system that consists of the optical fiber liquid level meter, optical fiber grating temperature sensor and optical fiber valve position return dispatch ware is formed. This system enables the measuring process to avoid completely the electronic signals to attain safety. A S7-300 PLC, which acted as a DP master and MPI slave, forms the middle control layer. Siemens S7-300 PLC, besides finishing the basic logical function, can also harmonize the work among these DP slaves via field-bus communication. An IPC with WinCC software is used to display parameters, deal with alarm information, print report forms and so on.With good flexibility, high reliability and friendly HMI, the whole system is worth to popularize. In addition, at present a lot of oil tank field need automatic alteration in our country, the system contains excellent property in current use and engineer popularization.
