Research Of Embedded GUI On Linux

Embedded system which is represented typically with handheld devices and real-time system requires a light, easily configurable and friendly GUI(Graphic User Interface).Firstly, this paper describes briefly the developing situations of embedded system and GUI, then introduces several kinds of GUI on embedded system and analyzes roughly their own characteristics. In the third chapter, a typical Embedded GUI MiniGUI based on Linux is analyzed and studied, including main characteristics, architecture, OOP and other related technologies of MiniGUI. In the fourth chapter, a PDA example based on embedded system is presented. Also, some related technologies and important arithmetics are improved. Its experimental effect is satisfactory. In the fifth chapter, the future of embedded technology and Linux was outlined.The PDA program is characterized with simple design and full utilization MiniGUI system resources. It has the functions of general PDA and the size of 1M. So it is very suitable to embedded system. The implement of the program provides references to developing GUI based on embedded Linux and developing application software based on Linux.
