Research And Implementation On ERP-Material Flow Management System Of Steel-making Plant

ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) is the combination of modern enterprise management philosophy and computer application technology. With ERP system, the enterprise is more competitive and the profit is maximized. This thesis studies the material flow control part for ERP implementation in steel-making enterprises. Beginning with the definition, development and application of ERP, this thesis elaborates step by step on the status quo of the production and management, the framework of ERP, and the definition, function and real implementation of the material flow management of Steel-making Plant. In further analysis, it points out ERP of Steel-making Plant covers material flow, capital flow and information flow; material flow is the basis of fund flow and information flow, and is an essential link connecting between management and equipment control in ERP of Steel-making Plant; therefore the thesis suggests that Steel-making Plant shall start its construction with material flow and then realize the whole philosophy of ERP. Specific plans have been worked out in this article for realizing the material flow control in steel-making plants. Some functions, with their software programming and lab commissioning completed, are expected to be put into service in the steel-making plant project of Xinyu Iron & Steel Company in Jiangxi which is scheduled to be completed in the first half of 2003.The thesis is mainly intended to find solution to following points:â‘ It expounds the generation and evolution of ERP as the basic ideology of being production and operation management model for modern enterprises, analyzes the constitutions of information system and software system based on the practical situations of steel-making plants, explains the necessity and importance of implementing ERP in steel-making plants and defines the specific functions of ERP- material flow control system for steel-making plants.â‘¡In combination of the functions of ERP-material flow control system for steel-making plants and the current situations and development of computer application, taking into consideration of factors such as reliability, superiority and expandability, it determines the hardware structure network design and software programming of material flow control system for steel-making plants by comparison of different plans.â‘¢In the course of the steel-making plant construction for Xinyu Iron & Steel Company in Jiangxi, the above-mentioned network design and software programming of the material flow control system for steel-making plant have found specific applications.The results and engineering concept of this subject are very instructive and useful to the realization of ERP of Steel-making Plant, and the ERP-Material Flow Management System of Steel-making Plant developed herein is worthy to be widely spreaded and applied.
