In the recent decades, the steel industry has experienced rapid development in China. The use of cold rolling mill in large-scale enterprises is becoming more and more extensive. The efficient use of the equipment dramatically improves production efficiency. The stable operation of galvanizing line in a long time is the necessary condition to protect the production and efficiency. The failure of the single unit or connected devices will cause the unit to appear more defective products, even a serious failure may occurred and that can make the unit shut down, resulting in disastrous consequences and major economic losses. The rapid development of computer technology makes the monitoring methods of the plant equipment more diverse. Intelligent and remote monitoring system are gradually applied to production site in the factory. Real-time monitoring, timely processing and improving the modern management and maintenance level of the enterprise equipment, which become the inevitable direction of the enterprise development now.The device control system and the fault type of the galvanizing unit are summarized in this thesis. Based on the understanding of the existing working conditions of the unit and monitoring requirements in detail, the corresponding optimization is putted forward. The system uses OPC technology to read the running state of the field device from the DB block of Siemens PLC. Then the original data is analyzed and determined, and the data foundation for subsequent monitoring and voice alarm is laid. According to setting the fault priority of the process, high-level failures which may lead to shut down are predicted according to the low-level fault diagnosis by the expert system module. When the monitoring determines that the unit occur high-level fault, the voice alarm will be emitted immediately to prompts the operator. At the same time, the fault data will be saved to Access database, and the first-hand data will be provided for the electrician to analyze the production state of the unit. The development system implements data collection, data communication, data analysis and forecasting, data storage and multi-channel sound cards distributed voice alarm and other features in this thesis.Currently, the system implements actual on-line operation for eight months. During the running operation, the system can quickly and accurately read, analyze and judge the failure of the unit. Therefore, the defect rate of the product is reduced and the guarantee is provided for the timely processing of major production failures.
