The paper gives a detail description of the computer control system for converter steel-making, based on the project of 30ton converter steel-making of Hebei Jingye Group, Steel-making Plant.After study and analysis of the key equipments in converter steel-making process, and their functions, actions, control principles, the control system is designed at the fully safe precondition by considering the disadvantage of former control system, according to the consumer's requirement. The whole paper is divided into 4 parts, in thelst part, there is a discussion of the characteristics of main equipments in converter steel-making, such as converter, oxygen lance, equipments of weighing and loading the bulk material, cleaning and recirculation of fume. The process is briefly presented form loading material, charging furnace, converting, slagging to tapping of steel and slag. In the 2st part, the principles of converter gradient control, oxygen lance control, material loading control and dust exhaust control are described. The good control of oxygen lance will directly leads to the high quality and productivity of product in converter steel-making, vice versa. The oxygen lance control includes speed control and position control, but the position is the key point. Relay logic control is adopted in conventional oxygen control system, the low accuracy in oxygen lance position control results in low success rate of steel-making and a bad effect on quality and quantity of product directly. The oxygen lance control system in the paper is based on advanced domestic and abroad experience to promote the accuracy of oxygen lance position control, product quality and productivity.
