With the rapid developments of SLSI technology, the System on a Chip (SoC) technology supported by Very Deep Sub-Micron (VDSM) and IP-reuse has become the developmental trend of international SLSI and the IC mainstream in the 21st century. The development and accumulation of Intellectual Property (IP) is becoming a pivotal cut-in point for our country to enter the international IC industry. Presently, the important IP cores under development in our country include microprocessor, memory, mixed signal circuit, interface circuit, programmed logic circuit and intelligent power circuit etc. The PCI local bus, because of its high-speed and broad bus-width features, has turned into the hot point of IP core researches, for lots of IC manufacture, especially for our country's 863-plan IC item. The thesis is emphasized on the principle of PCI local bus, the application of FPGA/CPLD technology, the development of PCI IP core and their applications as well as the test. The PCI IP core of my design is tested in the system of Virtue Arbitrary Waveform Generator through downloading into EPF10K20 chip, an Altera product. The technical points of hardware and software solutions of Virtue Arbitrary Waveform Generator are also introduced here. The main sections are as followed:1. Preface2. PCI local bus technology3. FPGA/CPLD application technology4. The technology of PCI IP core5. The software and hardware solution of Arbitrary waveform generator6. System debugging tools and results7. Conclusions and suggestions...
