A New MIS Development Facility Based On The Theory Of Workflow

MIS is very important to enterprises but traditional MIS can't meet the need of enterprises today. The models of organizations in enterprises shifting from hierarchical and functional to process-centered, process often verifying and process becoming more and more complex, traditional MIS not supporting BPR, so a new MIS development facility based on the theory of workflow is brought out in this thesis to assist the development of MIS.First, a survey of workflow-technique is given. The implementation model of generic workflow product is emphasized.Second, this thesis analyses the demands of enterprises today and the disadvantages of traditional MIS. A new idea occurs that applying workflow-technique to MIS.The theory frame and implementation scheme of a new MIS development facility based on the theory of workflow are brought out according to the experience in development of traditional MIS. As for process modeling, two methods are adopted: workflow oriented enterprise modeling method and user designing process-flow by himself using WFVPD. Petri net is introduced to support process description and the interpreting process-flow. As for process service, a model of workflow service supporting process-flow in MIS is presented. Components of the model of workflow service, communication method and process service are described. As for application, this thesis discusses the worknode in the context of MIS, the development of application and the whole course of process flow.Finally, this thesis makes a conclusion about the new MIS development facility based on the theory of workflow.
