Research Of DW-Oriented MIS Design

In the traditional Management Information System (MIS),routine business functions ,in which data are recorded and processed for operational purposes ,are realized by using database technology. But as the exchanging information increases so quickly in enterprises,the traditional MIS can no longer do a satisfactory job. In the 70's ,Decision Support System are presented as a development of MIS and as a solution to non-structured Query and Decision.In this paper,on the one hand,based on the properties of data merger from MIS into Data Warehouse along with the relationship between Data Warehouse and MIS,the principles of MIS design scheme as a solution to this problem are discussed,and a technology method of MIS design with data merger is given as well. On the other hand,after introducing some characteristics of Data Warehouse,this paper states that those are just what the Decision Support System needs. To discuss the necessities of the rise of DSS as a complement of MIS and corresponding key technologies,this paper introduces a real project:the Project Exploration Management Information System.
