Light Emitting Diode is a kind of semiconductor light source which came out in the end of 1960's and from then on it is used in some instruments only to indicate the state or show numbers and words because of the low brightness. Since the early days of 1990's, great breakthrough achieved in the research of LED. With the continuous improvement of LED brightness, the decrease of LED price and a much longer life, higher efficient, and lower electricity power consumption than incandescence lamps and fluorescence lamps, LED is a kind of ideal green lighting source and it will be used in illumination step by step.Through the research and development of LED shopwindow illumination lamp and stage illumination lamp, this dissertation purposes to find the feasibility and reliability for LED to be used in illumination, and to set up the foundation for further research and development.The thesis mixes high brightness red,green and blue LEDs to get 24 bit, 16 bit or 8 bit color light as light source, applying to the lighting ordinarily of extensive ornament lighting and low intensity of illumination. And the paper dissertates colors matching design, control system design, electromagnetic compatibility design and structure design of the lamps and application system.The dissertation expatiates on the material, lighting mechanism and related characters of LED. In the paper, the color mixing theory and related chromatic theory and vision characters of eyes are discussed, which are the theory and application foundation of color LED products.The paper dissertates the calculation of color matching with tricolor based on the color mixing theory and CIE chromaticity system and makes the light of red, green and blue LED be the tricolor. According to the inertia of eyes, the paper applies pulse width modulation, PWM for short, to control the bright of LED and that is numerical control, through which the gray degree is controlled and adjusted. A network control protocol, DMX512 protocol, is introduced and the paper -applies the protocol to realize the digital control of multi-route stage illumination system. Electromagnetic compatibility must be considered in allelectronic products, so dose this paper. To get excellent illumination effect, the paper has carried on a secondary optic desisgn. Thermal produced in the system is the biggest threat to the system itself; the dissertation designs the thermal management structure and unites the exterior structure design and thermal design.The result of the research and development of the paper indicates that it is feasible and reliable for led to be used in decoration illumination and there is a broad market at present.
