Research On The Lighting System Based On DMX512

The rapid development of science and technology not only makes high demand to lighting-system, but also provides good environment for the development of light-controlled technology. Traditional analog light-controlled technology has several inherent limitations, such as low precision, weak ability of anti-disturbance, and inconvenient storage of signals. So it is replaced by complete digital light-controlled technology gradually. Complete digital light-controlled technology develops with that of computer technology and Grand Scale Integration. It combines the technology of database, brainpower and networks. Compared with analog electronic light-controlled technology, it has many virtues, such as strong robustness and convenient storage of signals.On the basis of present digital light-controlled technology, the thesis puts forward that visual control software will replace manipulate desk, and the PC with Pentium CPU, which runs friendly-interface operating system-Windows98, will act as console. At the bottom floor, the console will send lighting signals by PCI bus instead of ISA bus.DMX512, one kind of digital lighting signal protocols, is studies in the thesis. The thesis also analyzes the characteristics of DMX5I2, and puts forward that DMX512 can be used as the protocol of lighting control system. Thus, the incompatibility between console and dimmer, which is produced by different manufactures, will be solved.A kind of PCI device is designed. It sends digital signals based on DMX512. PCI bus is the data-transporting media between CPU and single-chip computer. At present, there are several kinds of schemes for the PCI bus and the peripheral circuit. The virtues and shortcomings of different schemes are compared in the thesis. A better scheme is selected and realized in practice.A convenient tool is selected to open the virtual driver of the PCI device on the WindwosQS platform among many develop kits. The characteristics of lighting-system, and the function of its modules, are also analyzed in this thesis.
