This thesis is written in the background of the rise of the Internet/ Intranet and the extensive application of the electronic commerce. It detailed discussed the new need that brought up by customers, and the limitation in architecture and deficiency in function of current monolayer and C/S application construction system. Therefore, the purpose of the thesis is to find an entire new application software construction system to solve the new problems and satisfy the new needs.At the same time, an old version of application system----long-distancewatch system for pumping station of Wuhan city will be reformed according to the new construction system.Now there are two new software construction systems can reach thepurpose mentioned above, one is Windows DNA (Windows Distributed NetworkApplications Architecture) submitted by Microsoft, the other is J2EE(Java 2 Enterprise Edition) submitted by SUN Company. The thesis placesemphasis on Windows DNA.The thesis contents five chapters. The first chapter is summary, which introduce the background, purpose and significance of research.The second chapter expatiate the model structure of Windows DNA. The chapter introduced the origin and the developing process of the Windows DNA, analyzed deeply the functions of each layers and the relations among each layers in the model, at the same time pointed out the main advantages, the applying range of Windows DNA and the problems it can solve, at last expressed some understanding of the Windows DNA by the author.The third chapter'is concerned with the techniques that the Windows DNA involved. The model structure of Windows DNA is a large and complicated system, it includes a lot of contents, which are still renewing and developing. The thesis selected a big part of important techniques to briefly discuss, which include Web technology such as ASP> JSP, IIS, and XML (Extensible Markup Language), and also include C(^DCOM MTS COM+, which is the core technique of Windows DNA. The thesis use many sections to briefly expatiate the construction model and function character of those core technologies, which are also the important content of the thesis. Database and its saving techniques were discussed at last, the emphases were on SQL Server and ADO.The contents of fourth chapter are to expatiate a new version of distributed three-layer long-distance watch system for pumping station of Wuhan, which was designed according to the theory of Windows DNA and practical. The chapter briefly expatiate the design and work flow of the client progranu DCOM program and Intranet which are all belong in the new system, and list some deficiency found in practice application, and also give means to resolve the problems by using up to date technology. The theory of Windows DNA was expressed everywhere in the design of each module of the new application system, thus tested the advanced, advantaged and applicable property of Windows DNA theory in practice.In the last chapter of the thesis, it is concluded that Windows DNA is the best model structure for programming under Windows system, according to both theory research and practice.
