With the rapid development of information technology, nowaday computer management of health care systems can not meet actual demands. The new generation of health Care information system does not merely work in hospital transaction management, but become a hospital enterprise facing health care service. The hospital enterprise integrates patients?informatioqi, medical images and health care management. PACS(Picture Archiving and Communication System) is an important part of the hospital enterprise.PACS is not a new thing. It had been put forward more than ten years ago. At present, the research about the system and some key techniques of PACS has reached a certain height. However, today, in information age, with the rapid development of information technology and the increasing demands of people in every field, PACS is confronted with more and more challenges such as the establishment of hospital enterprise, telemedicine and the integration of many PACSs of different hospitals in local area, nation range and even global range. At some aspects, nowaday architectures of PACS make against the development in future.Therefor this paper researched on the architecture of PACS. After analyzed achievements of other PACS researchers, this paper applied a new architecture into PACS. The architecture has a threeire client/server framework based on distributed object technology. Furthermore, This paper researched the distributed feature of PACS, designed a threeire distributed architecture of PACS and deeply discussed its?implementation and some key question. The main works of this paper focus on following points:~Knew the development direction of PACS and the ways and achievements of domestic and international researches.>Researched the medical industry standards in PACS and the architecture onit.>Analyzed the distributed object techniques and the threeire client/server architecture based on it. Then researched the ways apply it into PACS.~Researched the storage management and the mathod of data control in PACS based on the threeire distributed architecture.~Established a example system to practice above designs.In the running of the example system, the architecture of PACS designed in this paper appeared advantages at many aspects and turned out to be better than nowaday architectures of PACS to adapt to the future evolution.
