Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) is the important step of e-hospital. Meanwhile, to exchange information between PACS or modalities from different venders, PACS should support DIC0M3. 0, which is a standard by ACR and NEMA.As a opening joint protocol, DICOM Standard involve even all the aspect of digital health images, such as acquiring image, achieving, communication, display and query etc. The appearance of DICOM promotes health image information exchanging in various imaging devices and systems. In the process of building and purchasing PACS, it is as well known that the system or device conforming to DICOM is a must.This article introduces the design and development of a mini-PACS based on DICOM 3.0. I apply the Object-Oriented Software Engineering theory and method to design and implement. Unify Modeling Language (UML) is used to describe analyses and specification. And we utilizekinds of elements of reusable Object-Oriented software--DesignPatterns. As an emphasis, the Physician Workstation sub system and communication system are introduced, involving the Static Structure, the Object Interaction and so on.
