Ability is the basic principle in secondary vocational schools, where the Chinese teaching must highlight the characteristics of vocational education. The teaching of ancient poetry reading, a way to improve the students' comprehensive quality and ability, should also be in accordance with the demand of the teaching syllabus, where the teacher should clarify the target ability of ancient poetry reading and set up a teaching system that adapts to the target ability in order to achieve the aims that the students can grasp the basic knowledge of ancient poetry on the one hand, understand its content and ideas it conveys on the other. However, the present teaching of ancient poetry reading in vocational schools is characterized by dull teaching strategies and methods, force-feeding teaching, model teaching.The researcher takes Erdos Vocational and Technical School, where the researcher is working, as an example to explore and highlight the teaching of ancient poetry reading in secondary vocational schools.This paper first supplies with surveys (for Chinese teachers and students from the accounting class in which the students'Chinese foundation is relatively good). The surveys are about the teaching of ancient poetry reading for the purpose of having a general knowledge (from the perspective of students and teachers) about the present situation of the teaching of ancient poetry reading in the secondary vocational schools, and the results of the surveys are worrying:teachers are bored with teaching, students are tired of learning. The discouraging situation of the present teaching forces us Chinese teachers to explore and try some effective teaching strategies and methods, which becomes an urgent need.Then, the paper resets the target ability of the teaching of ancient poetry reading in secondary vocational schools. According to the Chinese Teaching Syllabus for Secondary Vocational Schools, the aims of the teaching of ancient poetry reading is to develop the students'comprehensive ability to understand the thoughts and feelings the poetry conveys after reading and reciting a certain amount of ancient poetry, and in the meanwhile, to stimulate the students'interest in learning. This part explains the theory of the teaching implementation with literature acceptance theory and constructivism theory. Under the guidance of this theory, some effective teaching strategies and diverse approaches have been tried (such as dialogue teaching strategy, experience teaching strategy, and effective evaluation strategy) to highlight the aims of the teaching of ancient poetry reading in secondary vocational schools. These aims include stimulating students'interest in learning ancient poetry, making students the subject of classroom teaching, and enriching the students'emotion experience and the aesthetic feelings. In the mode of evaluation, the students'learning methods, learning effects are focused in different perspectives so as to stimulate the students'learning interest, and finally to set up a system that is suitable for the teaching of ancient poetry reading in secondary vocational schools.Finally, the paper analyzes the results of the implementation on strategies and approaches, which show that the implementation of effective teaching strategies and diverse teaching approaches are effective.Hope this topic research can provide references for the teaching of ancient poetry reading in other secondary vocational schools.
