"Teaching returns to life"as one of the ideas of the new round curriculum reform of elementary education was drawn attention by more and more educationists and practitioner。However, how to define the concept of it, different people have different opinion. Previous studies focus on sole comprehension concept of this proposition to know its connotation. They studied the following problems:what is life or the world of life; what are intention and meaning for"teaching returns to life"; what is the world of life for education can return to; how to get to the world of life; whether education can return to the world of life and so forth. The author think that this research approaches are wrong, because they can't avoid to dissever ideas and background of"teaching returns to life",and the explanation of the concept of the proposition unilaterally results in comprehend the proposition mechanically. Not only we can't comprehend the proposition itself, but also it leads to that we doubt and heckle"teaching returns to life". In this thesis, the author attempts to put forward the theory and fact background of"teaching returns to life"to analyse its meaning. We think:"teaching returns to life"is that teaching should connect to life, It includes three meanings. First, as a resource, the life of student is becoming teaching content; Second, we connect teaching content to the students'life in order to take advantage of transfer of experience,perception,knowledge,skill to help learn teaching content. . Third, we admit that teaching process is one part of the life process of student, the important role man plays in his life is emphasized, that is : attach importance to students'initiative and generation in the teaching process, attach importance to students'actively participation, the real experience, and encourage their life activity.Under this comprehension, the author investigate Chinese textbook of elementary school and teaching in class , and extend the research perspective to practice, to analyse"teaching returns to life". Through analysis , The author think there are many phenomena about"teaching returns to life"in textbook. A lot of teachers try their best to use"teaching returns to life"in our class. Although these phenomena and attempts can't reflect"teaching returns to life"at all, we start to find a new way to study"teaching returns to life".
