Study On After-class Exercises Of Biology Textbook For High School Of 2019 Edition Based On Life Concept

After-class exercises was an important part of the textbook,and also an important resource to cultivate students' concept of life.This study hoped to make a better use of the textbook and help teachers develop students' concept of life through after-class exercises of textbook.Through questionnaire survey,this study found that teachers' willingness to cultivate students' concept of life was not high.In order to help teachers realize that after-class exercises in textbooks were important for improving students' life concept,and enhance teachers' attention to after-class exercises in textbooks,the author studied the life concept involved in the illustrations and background of after-class exercises in textbooks,and divided the concept of life in textbook exercise into four levels with SOLO classification theory.Then,combined with the division of life concept level of the after-class exercises in the textbook,the questionnaire was compiled by using the after-class exercise in the textbook to understand the answers of senior high school students to the exercises involving life concept in the after-class exercise,so as to understand whether the students could reach the life concept level required by the exercises,and whether the compilation of the exercises was reasonable.Through the research on the exercises in the textbook,it was found that:(1)Pictures of after-class exercises were less but with high quality which was an important resource to help students develop their concept of life;(2)The after-class exercises of textbook was rich in background,which was a good situation created for the help of development of students ' life concept;(3)The life concept level of the compulsory module could meet the students with different learning needs;(4)Different columns of exercises in the textbook focused on different levels of life concept.The levels of life concept in the "concept detection" and multiple-choice part of "review and improvement" were mainly Level 1 and Level 2,while the levels of life concept in the non multiple-choice part of "knowledge expansion" and "review and improvement" were mainly Level 3 and level 4;(5)Different modules of biology textbooks focused on different life concepts.Generally speaking,the after-class exercises of textbooks were important resources to help students develop their concept of life.The author had carried on the investigation to the senior high school students.The following were found:(1)In the compulsory part of the textbook,students could basically answer the questions of life concept in Level 1 and Level 2,which was suitable for students to use at the beginning of their study to consolidate their foundation;(2)Life concept level 3 and Level 4 were obviously difficult for many students.Students might need further guidance from teachers to help them reach a higher level of life concept.Through this study,teachers could realize that after-class exercises in teaching materials were important teaching resources to cultivate students' life concept to improve teachers' understanding of after-class exercises in teaching materials and help teachers understand the level of life concept involved in after class exercises in teaching materials,also provide basis for teachers to develop students' life concept by using after class exercises in teaching materials.At the same time,the analysis of the life concept of the textbook exercises and the analysis of the students' answers to the textbook exercises involving the life concept were also a kind of feedback to the textbook editors,which was helpful for the textbook editors to continuously improve the quality of the textbook exercises.
