The study assessed the relations among occupational stress, teacher burnout andmental health, using 81 primary teachers. Based on it, we intervened the stress throughstress training, and investigated such training whether decreased occupational stress andteacher burnout, and whether it improved teachers' level of mental health. The resultsshowed that: 1. There was significant positively relations between teacher burnout andoccupational stress. Occupational stress has strongly predicted teacher burnout. Job loadand self-development can predicted emotional exhaustion; job expectancy predictedpersonal accomplishment, and both of them predicted depersonalization. 2.The significant positive correlation existed among occupational stress and negativemental health. The former showed somewhat predictions to the later. Firstly, inpersonalrelationship showed best, it predicted seven factors except terror and psychiatry; Secondly ,student factor predicted five factors , job expectancy four, and self-development tosomatization. 3. The significant positive correlation also existed among teacher burnout andnegative mental health. Especially , the dimension of emotional exhaustion whichpredicted somatization , obsessive, anxiety, depression and opponent,at the same time,depersonalization predicted somatization also. 4.The role of teacher burnout as a moderator of the relations between occupationalstress and mental health. 5.The intervened training of stress could decrease occupational stress, release teacherburnout and improve the level of mental health.
