Teachers,occupational stress that is regarded as one of the core subjects ofstudies on teachers and on occupation has interested many psychologists these days.Combining both quantity and quality study method and in positive psychologyperspective, this study investigated the stress in occupation and coping according tothe large sample questionnaire survey to348elementary, intermediate and secondaryschool teachers.The study analyzed the data with Spss10.0for Windows by way of descriptivestatistics, compare means, correlation analysis and step regression analysis. Theresults showed that:1. Teachers currently encountered much occupational stress especiallyexamination stress and workload stress.2. Some demographic variables significantly influenced occupational stress suchas gender, age, degree, whether the school is important, job experience time, whetherhe was on duty, which subject he taught and why he became a teacher, while otherdemographic variables had no significant effect on occupational stress includingteaching bank and whether he taught in secondary school.3. Correlation analysis showed that significant correlation existed amongteachers,occupational stress, personality characteristics, coping, the sense of teachingefficacy, job satisfaction and occupational burnout.4. Step regression analysis indicated coping, the sense of teaching efficacy, andpersonality characteristics could predict occupational stress. The personalitycharacteristics of N, negative and coping the cause of not voluntary choose positivelypredicted occupational stress.5. The personality characteristics of teachers had adjustment function betweenthe occupational stressor and stress feeling. Well personality characteristics that gothigher E and L but lower N and P with EPQ could change the effect of theoccupational stressor and decrease the stress feeling.6. The sense of teaching efficacy is as a mediator on the relation between occupational stress and occupational burnout or job satisfaction. It was moderated bynegative coping and personality characteristics (P&N).The sense of teaching efficacyis a moderated mediator on the relation between occupational stress and occupationalburnout or job satisfaction.
