Postgraduate education in China from 1902 to 1949 was achanging process. The purpose of this thesis is to analyze such a transition.Firstly, in the view of enrollment system of postgraduate: It was a process from none to existence and gradually developed to standardization. The enteral qualification was also improving.Secondly, in the view of training system of postgraduate. It experienced two stages: On the first stage, students just made pure scientific research individually, and on the second stage, various major curriculum should be offered for students collectively. Such kind of change had a closely relation with the needs of society and the influence of returned students at that time.Thirdly, in the view of degree system of postgraduate: It underwent three stages: from the earliest degree, that was official position, then to the introduction of modern degree system in the early democracy period, and at last to the legislation of degree, which reflected a legalized process of postgraduate education in China from 1902 to 1949.
