The ChangZhou Ci School is the most influential and popular ci school in Qing Dynasty, its core theory- the"Ji Tuo"theory is not emerged at one stroke. As earlier, the theory of West ZheJiang Ci School has been permeated with the factor of"Ji Tuo", which laid the solid foundation for the upholding of the"Ji Tuo"theory of the ChangZhou Ci School. Wu Mengchuang is the outstanding poet in the Ci of the late Southern Song Dynasty, and he has always received mixed reviews from critics. Under the influence of the"Ji Tuo"theory, the evaluation of the Mengchuang Ci has experienced fundamental changes. Initially, Zhang Huiyan criticized it as"spread without the core". Then, Zhou Ji elected him as a member of the"Four Master Poets of Song Dynasty"and deemed his poems as"exceptional and magnificent", affirming them as vivid examples of the organic and integrated theory of"Ji Tuo in and Ji Tuo out". Their opposing attitudes towards the Mengchuang Ci reflect the unceasing updating and development of the"Ji Tuo"theory of the ChangZhou Ci School. The"Chen Yu"theory of Chen Tingzhuo was derived from the"Ji Tuo"theory of the ChangZhou Ci School and also showed the characteristics of its own. It approved the merits of Mengchuang Ci by the"Chen Yu"and reflected the deepening of the ChangZhou Ci School's theory."Four Master poets of Late Qing Dynasty"promoted the"Ji Tuo"theory of ChangZhou Ci School to a new peak. It integrated the favorable factors in West ZheJiang Ci School and helped to demonstrate the theory's mature form. Unlike Zhou Ji and Chen Tingzhuo, the Four Master Poets conducted a more in-depth study of the Mengchuang Ci through the practical collation, and also probed into its coincidence with Zhou Bangyan's Ci. They verified the view of"turbidity theory of Qingzhen"held by Zhou Ji and strove to break with the outdated view which regarded Meng Chuang Ci as obscure, thus, it helped the comprehensive understanding by the later generations. With the deepening research on Meng Chuang Ci by the ChangZhou Ci School, Meng Chuang Ci's unique artistic style was unveiled and the understanding of its true qualities was even moved closer in combination with the collation of"Four Master poets of Late Qing Dynasty". The"Ji Tuo"theory of showed the openness and inclusiveness in the process of continuous development, and it also continued to become refined and mature. This paper tentatively studies the Mengchuang Ci under the framework of the"Ji Tuo"theory of the ChangZhou Ci School. It is hoped that through the integration of the research of Mengchuang Ci and the ChangZhou Ci School, the history of mutual development can be revealed.
