In late Qing Dynasty,Changzhou-school got a new look.It developed from a local academic school into an academic school with national influence.The research method and research field were expanded,as well.The late Qing Changzhou-School formed new features based on “Thought of Applying Theory to Reality”,“informal portal” and “incorporate everything in academic studies” which were studied by Zhuang Cun-yu,and Liu Feng-lu.The research purpose of Changzhou-School is to carry forward the practical spirit of Gu Yan-wu and Huang Zongxi.Zhuang Cun-yu became the first one who describes the pragmatic theory of truth in the middle Qing dynasty.The pragmatism thought of the late Qing Changzhou-School is a succession of Zhuang Cun-yu's theory.The idea of social reform involves all aspects of social life,and strengthens the scholars' sense of society in late Qing Dynasty.In the field of scholarly study,the late Qing Changzhou-School reinterpreted the theory of "Gong-yang san-shi-shuo","Gong-yang san-tong-shuo" and "great unification".Moreover,they gave full play to the thought of "transformation" of Gong-yang School,which provided the ideological and theoretical basis for the reform of the late Qing Dynasty.In addition,the late Qing Changzhou-school developed a new research field from classics to history.They studied frontier and foreign historical areas in order to save the nation and serve the social reality at that time.In research methods,the late Qing Changzhou School inherited the early Changzhou School's method which combined the Sinology and Song Ming's Neo-Confucianism.Furthermore,according to the situatio,they used new path for the Western Han School and Lu-Wang Xin Xue instead of the Eastern Han School and Cheng Zhu Neo-Confucianism.Their aim is to facilitate their own ideas of reformation.Their method which combined the Sinology and Song Ming's Neo-Confucianism promoted the scholars in the late Qing Dynasty.In addition,with the development of Western School,they saw the strength of the West and advocated learning from the West They also understood the Chinese and Western learning methods in order to strengthen themselves.The academic research of the late Qing Changzhou-School not only made Gong-yang School flourish again,but also widened the vision of scholars in late Qing Dynasty.Their research method also had a profound influence on Chinese academic from traditional to modern.
