Objectives:To observe the analgesic effect of the pain of Lumbar Dise Herniation by the use of scalp acupuncture with regular needling, and do the further research on the principle of the analgesic mechanism in order to provide a new idea for the clinical treatment of the pain of LDH.Methods:According to the standard of diagnosis of LDH established by the State Authority of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1994,60 appropriate patients are selected as targets for the research from Zhangzhou Chinese Medicine Hospital Rehabilitation outpatient and inpatient who are diagnosed as LDH and conform to the standards in April 2008 to December 2009 period. In clinical observation, the patients are randomly divided into two groups each with 30 patients. They are the treatment group with the multiple uses of scalp acupuncture with regular needling, and the control group of regular needling. It takes ten days to finish the treatment with one time each day and ten as a course. The change of 5-Hydroxytryptamine(5-Ht) (a factor-induced pain in Peripheral blood), Low back pain disorders comprehensive evaluation criteria which is issued by theJapanese Society of OrthopediSurgery (JOA score) and Visual analogue scale (VAS) before and after the treatment are the indicators to the evaluation of analgesic effect of two groups through observation, statistic and comparison. The statistical software package SPSS13.0 was used to do the statistical analysis.Results:1. There was a remarkable difference in the VAS score and the JOA score of two groups before and after treatment (P<0.01), and the treatment group was superior than the control group(P<0.05).2. There was also a remarkable difference in the peripheral 5-HT levels of the two groups before and after treatment (P<0.01) and the treatment group was superior than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusions:1.As the treatment goes, the VAS score of the two groups decreases gradually and the JOA score of the two groups increase gradually.Their difference is also much remarkable after treatment which shows that two kinds of treatments can both effectively relief the pain of LDH. During and after the treatment of treatment group, the decrease in VAS score and the increase JOA score are always more than the control group. As to the decreased score of VAS and the increase score of JOA the two groups before and after treatment, the treatment group are both much remarkable than the control group. In other words, compared with regular needling, the treatment with scalp acupuncture with regular needling is much effective on analgesia; so that its course of the treatment can also be shorten relatively.2. The two groups can both reduce the content of 5-HT, so that they are both the effective methods to relief the pain of LDH. But the decrease in 5-HT value of the treatment with scalp acupuncture with regular needling are much obvious than the regular needling which shows that the first one can bring the better analgesic effect. Whereas the analgesic effect of two kinds of treatment is in connection with the content of 5-HT, the direct stimulation that scalp acupuncture with regular needling bring into the head which enhances the regulating effect of central nervous may be the one kind of the mechanisms.3. Scalp acupuncture with regular needling is significant for its outstanding analgesic effect and it is necessary and worthy to promote it to further use.
