| Objective: To observe the the effect of the treatment of periarthritis of shoulder by Wrist Ankle Acupuncture (WAA) and explore the mechanism to provide a new method in clinic.Methods: 60 patients with periarthritis of shoulder were randomly divided into treatment group and control group. Each group has 30 cases. Treatment group selected WAA and the control group used conventional acupuncture. After the first treatment, the first and the second course of treatment the effect were compared.Results: The treatment group and the control group have no significant difference in the total effective rate (p> 0.05), but after treatment, the cure rate, markedly effective rate and the total effective rate of the treatment group were higher than that of the control one. The effect of the treatment group is better than that of the control group on reducing pain after the first treatment, the first and the second course of treatment(p <0.05). After a course of treatment, the improvement in activity of the treatment group is better than that of the control group (p<0.05), while after the second course of treatment, the two groups have no significant different (p> 0.05).Conclusion: Two methods are effective for the treatment of periarthritis of shoulder, both methods can be used in clinic. But the effect of reducing pain of the treatment group is better than that of the control one.
