ObjectivesTo study the clinical effect of Injection Needle Scalpel Therapy (INST) on treating KOA through Randomized Controlled Trials.Methods60 patients with a diagnosis of KOA were randomly assigned to tow groups (30 each group):group A received INST (qw)for twice, group B took Lornoxicam Tablets (8mg bid) for 2 weeks. Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) were measured at three time points (before treatment, i. e. 1st day,14th day and 35th day). Statistical analysis was carried out by SPSS for Windows 13.0.Result1. The WOMAC scores of the two groups showed no significantly statistical difference (P>0.05)before treatment. Compared with the pain scores and the physical function scores before treatment (D1), both groups showed a significantly statistical difference (P<0.01) at 14th day (D14) and 35th day (35). Compared with the stiffness scores before treatment (D1), there was significant difference (P<0.01)at 14th day(D14) in the two groups and at 35th day(D35) in group A, but there was no-significant difference (P>0.05) at 35th day(D35) in group B.2. Compared by the difference of the pain scores, the stiffness scores and the physical function scores and between before and after treatment, there were no-significant difference (P>0.05) at 14th day (D1-14) in the two groups, but there were significant difference (P<0.01)at 35th day (D1-35) in the two groups. 3. After Chi-square test, it found that the curative effect rates of the two groups had no statistical significance (P>0.05) at 14th day but there was a significant difference (P<0.01) at 35th day.ConclusionBoth INST and Lornoxicam are effective in treatment KOA. There is no significant difference in WOMAC scores between group A and group B at 14thday, but INST group excels NSAIDS group at 35th day. The symptoms of KOA, such as pain, stiffness, and dysfunction, are mainly caused by conglutination, cicatrix and contracture, which come from the chronic inflammation of the peripheral soft tissue injury. INST is able to release the conglutination, erase cicatrix and eliminate contracture. Meanwhile the injected drugs can help to eliminate the aseptic inflammation. All together, INST breaks the vicious cycle of the degenerative knee, and set the stage for the knee recovery. INST is easy-handled, quick and long-lasting in curative effect. It is worthwhile to be promoted widely in the clinical.
