Research PurposeThis study build competency model of head nurse application of a number of way,the competency model of head nurse can help head nurse self-understanding, self-design and self-development, and to provide a scientific basis of head nurse selection, appraisal, promotion, out of the policy for hospitals.ObjectThis study selects 30 experts of professional representation, geographical representation and authority to serve as object of study by the research team repeated discussions, related to five fields of nursing education, nursing management, clinical nursing, nursing research and psychology, throughout Beijing, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Ningxia, Xian, Anhui, Hebei and Shanxi 12 provinces and cities.MethodsThis study build the primary model of nurse competence through the literature review method, theoretical analysis, questionnaire survey method, the expert panel method and other methods.Using the Delphi method, for 30 experts conducted two surveys on the primary model of the items of indicators, the content of indicators, the coverage of the indicators and the weight of indicators, based on results of the consultation build the head nurse competence model. Application of Excel2003 and spass13.0 software data processing. Results1. The reliability and representativeness of expert consultationThe Experts have a better representation and authority through qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis; the response rate of two expert consultation were 85.7% and 100%, indicating that experts of this study have a high degree of enthusiasm and support; the indicators of central tendency is increasingly clear, the coefficient of variation tends to decrease, coordination coefficient tends to increase, indicating that the central tendency of experts views coordination on indicators for the gradually increased.2. Choose the characteristics of head nurseScreening the importance of alternative indicators based on Likert five-point scoring system, index number is greater than 3.5, coefficient of variation of less than 2.0 as the selection criteria, choose the characteristics of head nurse combined with experts group opinions.3. To determine the weight of indicatorsApplication of the subjective assignment method to determine the competency of the weight. ConclusionThis topic build the competence model of head nurse by experts consultation.1. Using the Delphi method to build the competence model of head nurse, including the six characteristics of groups (help and service features, achievements and action characteristics, impact and influence characteristics, personal effectiveness, management characteristics, cognitive characteristics),26 competency, each with four levels of behavioral description.2. The 26 characteristics of the head nurse competence model are (in descending order of weight): pay attention to quality and order (.0405), empathy (0.0402), service awareness (0.0400), nursing and related professional knowledge and skills (0.0397), teamwork (0.0397), and interpersonal coordination (0.0394),0.0391 dedication, tasking capability (0.0391), plan formulation and implementation (0.0389), self-control (0.0389), flexibility and adaptation force (0.0386), the implementation force (0.0386), learning and development (0.0383), incentive (0.0380), self-confidence (0.0380), guidance and monitoring (0.0380), Systems Thinking (0.0380), achievement orientation (0.0378), organizational commitment (0.0378), control capacity (0.0378), positive initiative (0.0375), organizational cognition (0.0375), attention to detail (0.0375), innovation (0.0372), development of others (0.0369), authorization (0.0369).
