Objective:The study aims to establish a competency index system conforms to the health field in our country for nursing directors through various research methods, and provide a scientific basis for nursing directors’ selection, training, assessment and elimination.Methods:The basic framework of competency index system for nursing directors was formulated based on literature review, open questionnaire investigation and semi-structured interviews. The indicators and weights were determined by Delphi method and consulted from 30 specialists twice from 10 provinces and cities. A sample test of the index system in a total of 75 nursing directors from several two or three class hospital in China was implement to analyze the quality of the appraisal index system.Results:1.The indicator system consisted of 6 first-level indicators and 26 second-level indicators. Statistical results show that the two rounds of questionnaire effective recovery rate were 90.01%, 93.33% respectively, it proved experts positive degree is higher; The authority of experts degree coefficient is 0.89;Two rounds of expert consultation coordination coefficient is 0.118, 0.243 respectively(P<0.01).2.We have determined the weight of indicators at all levels.“Goal pursuit and action:0.1417” “Service consciousness and guide: 0.1310” “Interpersonal communication and influence: 0.1702” “Management capacity and skills: 0.2417” “Professional knowledge and skills: 0.1107” “Personal quality and accomplishment: 0.2407”.3.The competency index system for nursing directors were measured. According to the results of analysis software SPSS17.0, the evaluation index of the overall Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was 0.976 and that of each domain in the first grade index ranged from0.807 to 0.965.Correlation analysis results show that the index system structure validity isgood. On the whole, the evaluation index system has good reliability and validity.Conclusion:1.The indicator system consisted of 6 first-level indicators and 26 second-level indicators, and identified the weight of one class index and secondary index.2.The assessment model had better reliability and validity.
