Objective:To observe the effects of Point catgut-embedding therapy in Hyperplasia of Mammary Glands. Methods:Sixty cases of patients which were diagnosed with Hyperplasia of Mammary Glands were randomly divided into treatment group(n=30) and control group(n=30). The treatment group were treated by Point catgut-embedding therapy at corresponding points, Acupuncture point selection: Tianzong, Liangqiu; And according to the differentiation of symptoms and signs I add some other acupoints.â‘ Stagnation of QI due to depression of the liver: add Ganshuâ‘¡Obstruction of Channel by Phlegm:add Fenglongâ‘¢Incoordination between chong and ren meridians:add Guanyuan. Every ten-fifteen days for each therapy, and the treatment will stop to the next week during the menstrual period; The control group were treated by acupuncture each time, and the principal acupuncture points are:Tanzhong, Rugen, Wuyi, Qimen, Fenglong. Then accord to the differentiation of symptoms and signs we add some other acupuncture points:â‘ Stagnation of QI due to depression of the liver: add Taichong,Shenshuâ‘¡Obstruction of Channel by Phlegm:add Neiguan, Zhongwan, Zusanliâ‘¢Incoordination between chong and ren meridians: add Guanyuan, Sanyinjiao, Shenshu, Ganshu. It lasts 30 minutes.3 times/week, and paused in the menstrual period. The treatment course was one month in both groups, and we stop after the menstrual period. All the patients were assessed by use of the healing effect of The Eighth Conference of The Galactophore Professional of The TCM Surgery in 2002, before and after the treatment. The baseline information (including age, course of disease, differentiation of symptoms and signs and The total scores of the symptoms assessed before the treatment) of the two groups was analyzed by chi-square test and T test. The scores of the symptoms assessed gotten before and after the treatment were analyzed by paired-samples T test, and the mean of two groups by independent-sample T test. Results:The baseline information of the two groups had no significant difference by chi-square test and T-test(P>0.05).The scores of Symptoms assessed of both groups were found to decrease after three month's treatment, with a significant difference compared to that of treatment before(P<0.01).The improvement rate of Symptoms of treatment group at the whole body's situation ecreased more than that of control group, and these differences were significant(P<0.01). The pain situation was higher than control group, and the scores of Symptoms assessed of treatment group at the mood and menstrual period decreased more than that of control group, and these differences were significant(P<0.05).In the treatment, at the early days, the control group get a better effct. But at the latter days the treatment group get a remarkable result. The control group has no significant adverse reactions and complications. One case in the treatment group turned up wound infection symptom after the treatment, and was recovered after few times'symptomatic treatment with Jinhuanggao, few cases appeared callosity but no uncomfortableness. Conclusion:The Point catgut-embedding therapy has a more obvious effect at pain situation and the breast mass effect than the acupuncture therapy. It can improve the life quality and relieve the pain of HMG patients much better, compared with the acupuncture therapy, and also the therapy time can be relativily reduce, and so does the follow-up visit times.Because of minor specimen and shortage of long-term observation, the further research is needed to do.
