Background: Hyperplasia of Mammary Glands is an ordinary diseasemostly among women, which has symptoms including pain or tumour in mammaryglands. Following the progressing of the clinical and experiment ofacupuncture, it's effects on the Hyperplasia of Mammary Glands becomebigger and bigger. Objective: to observe the curative effect of electromagnetismtherapy combined with acupuncture in Hyperplasia of Mammary Glands, anddetect blood estradiol benzoates(E2), progesterone(P) in luteal phasebefore and after treatment, and to discuss the possible functionalmechanism of it.Methods: 60 patients from the acupuncture and the mammary glandsoutpatient department in the first affiliated hospital of GuangzhouUniversity of Chinese Medicine were selected according to strictdiagnosis criterion, divided to the treat group of 30 cases and the controlgroup of 30 cases. Treat group: we put two magnets on the mammary tumour, and connected with a pair of electrodes on G6805 model acupunctureElecetro-unit, 17 times/min of the flucency, spacing wave. And combinedwith acupuncture taichong, hegu, neiguan before menstrual period andsanyingjiao, taixi, neiguan after menstrual period. It last 30 minutes.3 times/week(Monday, Wednesday, Friday), and paused in the menstrualperiod. Control group: took tamoxifen lOmg every time, 2 times/day,paused in the menstrual period. We detected blood estradiolbenzoates(E2),progesterone(P) in luteal phase before and after treatment.Record the data from the two groups, establish the database, analyze themby SPSS 13.0 software package. Results: the treat group totel effective rate is 83.33%, the control group reach to 86.67%, two groups have no statistical significance(P>0.05). The levels of serum E2 of all groups are decreased while thelevels of serum P are increased (P<0.05) after treatment. The data betweenbefore and after treatment has significance, but the same between the twogroups has no statistical significance. Conclusions: electromagnetism therapy combined with acupuncture canmodulate disordered secretive function of hypothalamic-pituitary-ovrianaxis of the patients undergoing Hyperplasia of Mammary Glands and restoremammary glands to normally proliferate and renew. The effect ofelectromagnetism therapy combined with acupuncture on Hyperplasia ofMammary Glands is near medicine. And it has the advantage of the moresimple way to give treatment and no side-effect. This shows thatelectromagnetism therapy combined with acupuncture had good prospect ofclinical application.
