ObjectiveTo assess the efficacy and safety of the combination of wrist-ankle abupuncture and chinese massage therapy on the clinical effect of lumbar disc herniation.MethodsNinety cases suffered from lumbar disc herniation are randomly divided into Wrist-ankle acupuncture group, the massage group, and the synthetical treatment group (combining Wrist-ankle acupuncture with massage), of which the ratio is 1:1:1. Three groups were given the following treatments:Wrist-ankle acupuncture group:the patients receives moxibustion on the both sides of the following points:under 4, under 5, under 6. The depth of acupuncture is about 40 mm, and no swelling or tingling weight pain is better. The piont of needle is fixed with adhesive tape for 5-6 hours.Massage Group:First the doctor relax the patient with conventional massage, and then let he patient take the lateral position. The doctor facing the patient do oblique pulling. Then the doctor do it on the other side in the same way. At last the doctor finish the whole treatment with conventional massage.Wrist-ankle acupuncture and massage group:the method of acupuncture and massage is in accordance with the above group. After received the wrist-ankle acupuncture, the patient is given the massage with the needle leaving in his body. And the piont of needle is fixed with adhesive tape for 5-6 hours.Results the results showed that compared with the integrated score of pretreatment, the integrated score of the three group was improved significantly after the treatment (P<0.05); but the evaluation of the treatment group was better than the control group(P<0.05).1. After the treatment, JOA scores were all increased in three groups. But by contrast, There is difference between the treatment group and the two control groups in JOA scores. JOA scores of thetreatment group were better than control group(P<0.05).2. After the treatment, VAS scores were all reduced in three groups. But by contrast, There is difference between the treatment group and the two control groups in VAS scores. VAS scores of the treatment group were better than control group(P<0.05).ConclusionsThe method of treatment group and control groups can improve clinical simptoms, and the clinical therapeutic of wrist-ankle acupuncture and massage group is the best of three.
