Objectove:TO investigate the effect of Bimin Tablet(BMT) on ICAM-1 (Intercellular adhesion molecule-1) and VCAM-1(Vascular cell adhesion molecule-1) expression in nasal mucosa of experimental allergic rhinitis.Method:SD rats(n=40) were immunized by intraperitoneal injection of 03mg Ovalbumin(OVA)(1ml OVA-AL[OH]3-saline suspension) q.o.d.Normal group rats(n-16) were treated with the same methods expect injecting OVA.15th day,20μl of saline containing 20mg of OVA was instilled into nasal cavity for 7consecutive days.Normal group followed by intranasal administration only with saline. The rats challenged into allergic rhinitis(n=40) were randomly divided into four group:allergic rhinitis model group(n=10);the higher dose group of BMT(n=10);the lower dose group of BMT (n=10);Kairuitan treated group(n=10).All animals were treated for 15 days. The nasal mucosa of them were studied by immunohistochemical staining to observe the ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 expression. Result:1.Animal model of allergic rhinitis was established by using ovalbumin intraperitoneal immunization and nasal chanllenge.2.The number of positive immunoreactive cells(ICAM-1 and VCAM-1) was increased significantly in all the groups compared with normal group(P<0.01).ICAM-1 expression was inhibited by giving with Bimin Tablet and Kairuitan comparedwith allergic rhinitis model group(P<0.01); VCAM-1 expression was inhibited by giving with Bimin Tablet(especially in the higher dose group of BMT) and Kairuitan comparedwith allergic rhinitis model group(P<0.01).Conclusion:Bimin Tablet can decrease the expression of ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 in nasal mucosa of experimental allergic rhinitis.
